Surreal Product Styling for Crazy Cups

Surreal product styling seemed liked the only logical look for Crazy Cups coffee pods photo shoot. I collaborated with photographer, food stylist, and creative director, Yasmin Alishav to create these “crazy” product photos showcasing some of the brand’s signature flavors.product stylist los angeles | kellyoshiro.com | photo: Yasmin Alishav
For the hazelnut flavor, I created a coffee tornado and laid in whole hazelnuts. I have to say, styling coffee grounds is probably the hardest thing ever to manipulate and make it not look like a hot mess. I ended up using a piece of wood to scrape the shape and make clean edges. I also used a paint brush to clean up the shape and chef tweezers to carefully lay in the hazelnuts. surreal product styling los angeles | kellyoshiro.com | photo: Yasmin Alishav

For the white chocolate strawberry flavor, Yasmin made white chocolate commas (did I mention she’s actually a proper food stylist too?) mixed with whole strawberries I sliced and diced. This photo was a true styling tag team and was such a fun shoot to end 2020 with.

For the french toast flavor, Yasmin made mini french toasts which we finished with a wee little bit of powdered sugar. Cinnamon sticks and whole coffee beans completed the look.

Additional chocolate items like mini brownies and chocolate commas add some shape varieties to the props since brown is a pretty hard color to make look good.
