As an editorial prop stylist it was so much fun to create this cover story for Flutter Magazine issue six. We photographed this shoot on location by Erich McVey in Portland and at the breathtaking, Columbia River Gorge. We started at Salt & Straw where our honeymooners enjoyed a sweet treat. Then we moved across the street to Barista, where our couple planned their route over espresso. From there, we drove out to the gorge in an immaculate, vintage, ’55 corvette.
Pre-production on this shoot was challenging. The day before, our shoot location changed based on the location of the vintage car (which we confirmed two days before the shoot day and was extremely difficult to find). I spent 4 hours the day before the shoot driving up and down the gorge looking for the perfect vista location and I found it right before sunset. Then, on shoot day, our female model changed two hours before call time. But as I always say, the more issues during pre-production, the smoother shoot day will be, and that was definitely true this time. Our model couple ended up liking each other (wink, wink) and it shows in the photos. Special thanks to Erich & Amy McVey for photographing such a fun shoot, Beth Level for hair and makeup, Toms for providing shoes & sunglasses, Tracy from Classic Vintage Rentals for props and finding the perfect vintage car, and Sophia Kaman for jewelry.
