Brunch at San Ysidro RanchPhotos by Arna Bee for Flutter Magazine

For our on-going fashion to table series we tapped Santa Barbara native, Samantha of Could I have that? for a shoot themed around classic denim. I found these perfect napkins from Terrain as a jumping off point and then found a vintage indigo linen from Mate Gallery for an authentic denim texture. Add in the sickessssst chargers also from Terrain and copper accents in the silverware and placecard (a nod to the copper rivets in a classic denim) and this table came together quickly.

Kim from Toast did beautiful, feminine, white flowers and brought the most perfect bar cart which I styled with lemon and a huge rose vine Kim foraged. Anelise Salvo did some simple hand lettering for the menu on lucite and I hung it above the table. Special thanks to San Ysidro Ranch for hosting us and for Arna Bee for the beautiful photos. Flower Chic: Visiting a Dahlia Farm

I’m so happy my farm to table editorial was published on Snippet & Ink yesterday (check it here) so I can finally share some of the gorgeousness I captured with the amazing photographer, Karen Wise.

Nestled just before the foothills of Carpinteria a variertable flower wonderland of dahlias of all types and varietes trive under the Santa Barbara sun. On this day, I was picking up flowers for a little engagement dinner for Samantha of Could I Have That.

Varieties grown here range from dinner plate to petite red lollipop dahlias like these guys.

For Samantha’s table I picked a variety of bright summer colors, bright reds, yellows, oranges, and fuchsias.

Thanks so much to John of Greenwell Floral for hosting my little editorial project. I will be sharing more of the farms we shot and, of course, the delicious dinner catered by the Duo in the coming weeks.

Santa Barbara Holiday Gift Guide

Tis’ the season for gift guides of many kinds, but my favorite is Love Mikana‘s. Focusing on local Santa Barbara area businesses the guide has some of my favorite people and things. You can check it out here… Happy (local) shopping!

Restaurant: Arlington Taven

Last week me and my partners in crime, Samantha from could I have that and Kim, from Love Mikana, had a little girls night at one of Santa Barbara’s newest (and tastiest) restaurants, Arlington Tavern. Of course we had to get all glammed up (why not) and put on our best sparkly attire (you can see more about Sam’s outfit right here).

To add a bit more fun to our night out, I brought simply clipped flowers from my garden and Kim brought some adorable favors (more about that over on Love Mikana). Since Arlington Tavern’s logo is the crossed fork and knife, I styled the place settings accordingly.

We of course had to sample as many appetizers as possible… One of my favorites? The kobe beef hot dog… Best hot dog in Santa Barbara? I think so!

And the of course, what party wouldn’t be complete without mac n’ cheese. This dish is seriously perfect, I could have eaten the whole bowl by myself. And for some vegetarian friendly options, we ordered the heirloom tomato salad and the aspargus with deep fried poached egg. And yes, its as decadent and delicious as it sounds.

Of course, what would a birthday party be without some serious desserts? We shared with the lemon cake (super zesty and delicious) and my personal favorite, the warm espresso brownie with caramel sauce.

Special thanks to Arlington Tavern for hosting us! You can stop in and sample the mac n’ cheese (do it!) Monday through Saturday from 5pm to 10pm (closed Sunday). The Tavern has a regular sit down dinner menu and also a bar menu if you’re feeling just like some small bites. And, if you’d like to see more of our party, be sure to hop on over to Could I have that and Love Mikana. Party on!
